Collaborative Design Studio provided master plan services for the Washoe County School District to renovate their existing transportation maintenance facilities. The findings of this master plan resulted in the design of the Getto Transportation Yard in Sparks, Nevada.

The central yard has two shop buildings, three Quonset hut offices and storage buildings, a bus wash, and fueling facilities. All of the current structures have reached the end of their life, and are located in the 100-year floodplain of the Truckee River. With these considerations, it was determined that the existing facilities should be demolished, and a new maintenance and administration building be provided on an elevated portion of the site.

The project consists of an administration and office area, and 8-bay shop for buses, and a 3-bay shop for other fleet vehicles. The office area includes a driver break room, a training room, and the vehicle dispatch office. Other site improvements include a new bus wash and fueling area, improved drainage, and electric vehicle charging stations. Construction is scheduled to commence in the Fall of 2025.
