Design and Construction Administrative Services

One of the oldest buildings on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, Manzanita Hall was originally built in 1896 and has served as a dormitory its entire life. Built with unreinforced masonry and concrete floors, it was closed in 2015 due to safety concerns.

Collaborative Design Studio was hired to oversee the design of seismic renovations, as well as upgrades to the building to comply with with modern accessibility and building code standards. Working closely with University Housing, CDS has successfully balanced the constraints of budget, safety, and the historic character of the building.
