Adventure Peak Ski School at Heavenly

South Lake Tahoe, CA
2,100 sq ft
Design through Construction Administration

Continuing a long-standing and success-filled relationship, Collaborative Design Studio was commissioned to design this new ski school building for Vail Resorts at their Heavenly Lake Tahoe Resort.

The building is located at 9,200 feet above sea level, across the way from the new Tamarack Lodge, which we designed and completed in 2010. The ski school’s site, facing the Tamarack Lodge and Tamarack Chairlift, was chosen so that the building would tie into the area’s existing uses as well as the architectural style of the existing buildings. It unites the entire Adventure Peak area into a hub of fun for the whole family.

The building holds approximately a hundred students per sitting and includes restrooms, ski instructor office space, a prep kitchen, and a large skills development and dining area.

The design of the facility was completed in two months, permitted in one month, and construction completed in four months to meet the expedited schedule of completion for the 2011 ski season.

This building exceeds Vail Resort’s expectations and is one more example of a true partnering and collaborative effort between CDS and Vail Resorts to produce another structure that helps solidify Heavenly as the premier ski and snowboarding destination at Lake Tahoe.
